### National scale

BCAP supports national governments in realizing their own blue carbon ambitions. BCAP establishes National BCAPs (NBCAPs), which accelerate collaborative efforts for blue carbon implementation and financing. This role includes:Bringing together national and regional governments, corporates, and civil society to establish a national secretariat and partners.Supporting the development and implementation of a roadmap for high-quality blue carbon projects within their country.Catalyzing strategic financing pathways for long-term viability.

### Global scale

BCAP advances conversations across partners and sectors to facilitate sustainable and equitable growth of high-quality blue carbon. This role includes:Establishing targeted task forces to address specific blue carbon challenges.Curating a community of existing blue carbon actors across sectors.Coordinating NBCAPs including amplifying good practice and success stories.

## What is High-Quality Blue Carbon?

BCAP subscribes to the High-Quality Blue Carbon Principles and Guidance, designed to overcome barriers to scaling blue carbon projects, while ensuring that projects are carried out with the utmost integrity. Through our partners, we support work that:1. Safeguards nature, preserving and enhancing ecosystem resilience.2. Empowers people, including Indigenous peoples and local communities, through ensuring local leadership, social safeguards, and equitable and just practices.3. Employs the best information, interventions, and carbon accounting practices, ensuring that methods are of the highest quality.4. Operates locally and contextually, working to understand and account for the unique traits of every project.5. Mobilizes high-integrity capital, ensuring that financial flows are transparent, fair, and robust.
